Hope Eyes

I wish you could grow eyes of hope
So you might find in every hour
A hidden joy for your beholding
So even when it’s hard to cope
You’d notice in each tiny flower
The mighty Spring unfolding.

So acts of kindness shine out bright
And people making something new,
Young ferns so green and tightly curled,
And grown ups laughing with delight,
To raise your spirits walking through
This great and complex world.

And when the hard times come, then cry,
But lift wet eyes to see the sky.
