Jewelled light-lines flowing
Swirling, merging, glowing,
Scrawls of iron balconies,
Neon twirling through the trees,
Cafe corner, a baguette,
Gothic spires, a coronet,
Walkers, joggers, scooters, bikes,
Muffdogs, weiners, taxis, trikes,
Faces, ages, cross the street,
Rushing, brushing, feet, feet, feet,
To the metro, dashing down,
Roses red, leaves gold and brown,
Now together, now apart,
Vital beating city heart
Metro, retro, mall, and steeple
Here’s a city made for people.
